Tashkent Branch
The Branch of the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia in Tashkent was established by the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated October 8, 2020, and the order of the Ministry of Enlightenment of Russia dated December 25, 2020.
The branch is overseen by the Ministry of Preschool and School Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The educational process is provided by the faculty of the Herzen University. In addition, pedagogical staff from Uzbekistan are selected on a competitive basis and undergo internships at the main university in St. Petersburg.
In 2024, the official opening ceremony of the new campus took place, located at 55 Babur Street, Yakkasaray District, Tashkent. The total area is 15,000 sq. meters, designed for 2,000 students. As of 2025, approximately 1,100 undergraduate and graduate students are enrolled.
Currently, the branch offers the following programs: Preschool Education, Child Psychology, Human Psychology, Deaf Education (Surdopedagogy), Oligophrenopedagogy, Theory and Methodology of Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language, Primary Education, Philological Education, and Early Foreign Language Teaching.
From the 2025-2026 academic year, three new programs were opened: Mathematics Education, Speech Therapy (Logopedics), and Special Psychology. Future plans include opening programs in physics, chemistry, computer science, and biology.
The Center for Adaptive Physical Culture and the Russian Language Educational Center will begin operations soon. Construction of a nine-story academic building for 1,000 students and a dormitory for 400 students is nearing completion.
